With the third pick in the 2015 WNBA draft, the Seattle Storm selected former Mater Dei standout, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis ’11, from the University of Connecticut. Mosqueda-Lewis, who led the Monarchs to both CIF-SS and CIF-State championships in 2009, 2010, and 2011, finished her four-year varsity career at Mater Dei as the all-time leader with 2,744 points, 872 rebounds, and 337 made 3-point field goals.
At UConn, Mosqueda-Lewis played on three consecutive NCAA national championship teams in 2013, 2014, and 2015. During her collegiate career, she averaged 15.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, shooting 48.6 percent from the floor, 44.7 percent from behind the three-point field arc, and 87.4 percent at the free throw line, in four years for the Huskies.
