On the Sidelines: We’ve Only Just Begun

Katie Lou Samuelson has probably never heard of the Carpenters, but the lyrics to that 1970s hit song that Karen Carpenter sang so beautifully with her brother, Richard, in the background, may best describe her current state of affairs as she begins to collect the accolades that are destined to come her way from the basketball world over the next few months.

Samuelson, who leads the #1 ranked Monarchs as they make their push through the postseason, got things started with a big splash as she was recently named a McDonald’s All-American.  Surprising, Samuelson is the only player this year (boy or girl) from talent-laden Southern California to be selected for this illustrious honor.

Samuelson will play in the 2015 McDonald’s All-American Game at the United Center in Chicago on April 1.
