Principal’s Message: Monarch of the Month Program

principal's message logoOne of the celebrated traditions for our Seniors at Mater Dei High School is the monthly selection of Monarch of the Month for September through June. Each month, we honor a Young Man and Young Woman for their overall character, citizenship, academic excellence, community service, and extra and co-curricular achievements.  Senior students are nominated by our faculty and staff and the list of nominees is submitted to the Administrative Board for final selection. The month’s honorees are officially notified with a surprise breakfast in the Principal’s Office with our ASB team.

At the conclusion of the school year, the Administrative Board selects one Young Man and Young Woman of the Year from all of the monthly honorees.

In years past, these honored students have had a biography featured in the monthly edition of The Lumen, which was the school’s official newsletter for many years. With the changing times and a more robust website, The Lumen was officially retired in June 2014.

Monarch of the Month biographies are now featured in The Scarlet Scroll, Mater Dei’s online student-produced newspaper. With this change, we will also be adding additional forms of recognition including an announcement via MDTV and the PA system as well as featuring the monthly honorees on the homepage of our website.

Please join me in congratulating the student honorees thus far:
