Remarkable

As the 2012-13 regular season came to a close, the Mater Dei girls’ basketball team, led by head coach, Kevin Kiernan, won the Trinity League championship with an undefeated 8-0 record.  Kiernan is now 46-2 (.958 winning percentage) in league play six seasons as the head coach at Mater Dei and the Monarchs have now won a Trinity League championship every year during his tenure..

We May (or should I say “Will?”) Never See This Again

The Mater Dei boys’ basketball team, under the direction of head coach, Gary McKnight, recently won its 25th consecutive league championship.  That right, the Monarchs have not finished below first place in league play for over a quarter of a century.  Speaking of McKnight, he has a win-loss league record of 273-9 (.968 winning percentage) in 31 years as the head boys’ basketball coach at Mater Dei.  We are talking single-digit losses after 31 seasons…absolutely amazing.
