Blackboard for Learning Management is Coming to Mater Dei!

The Mater Dei administration has decided to implement a learning management system for the 2012-2013 school year. After much discussion, the decision was made to use Blackboard Learn because it will best meet the needs of our students.

Blackboard has been involved in education technology since 1997 and is currently the most used learning management system in the world, operating in 85% of US colleges and over 70 countries.

Blackboard Learn offers the right technology services and support which will allow our faculty to facilitate the best learning experience for our students. This new platform emphasizes standards based teaching and learning as well as content management and sharing which is vital in a one-to one environment. Blackboard will give Mater Dei’s teachers the tools necessary to build a blended learning environment where they can differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learning levels.

Blackboard also offers a mobile app, which will give students instant access to all of their class content and grades while at the same time being incredibly user friendly.

We will be piloting the use of Blackboard Learn and Blackboard Mobile during the 2012-2013 school year, with the intention of a full implementation in the fall of 2013.
