Winter Sports Post Season Wrap

Basketball (Boys)
Finished in first place in the Trinity League with a 10-0 record…beat Long Beach Poly 63-59 at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena to win the CIF-SS Division 1AA championship…went on to win the CIF-State Division I championship with a 66-48 victory over hometown Sheldon at Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento… ended the season with a 34-2 record and ranked #1 in the state and #8 in the country by ESPNHS…Senior Eli Stalzer was his team’s MVP…Seniors Xavier Johnson and Katin Reinhardt shared Trinity League MVP honors…Sophomore Stanley Johnson  and Stalzer were named to the Trinity League First Team…Reinhardt was the Los Angeles Times Player of the Year and the John R. Wooden High School Player of the Year for CIF-SS Division 1…Xavier Johnson was the Orange County Register Player of the Year…Reinhardt and Xavier Johnson shared the CIF-SS Division 1AA Player of the Year honors…Coach Gary McKnight was the CIF-SS Division 1AA Coach of the Year…Reinhardt was named the Cal-Hi Sports Senior Player of the Year…Stanley Johnson was named the Cal-Hi Sports Sophomore Player of the Year.

Basketball (Girls)
Went 8-0 in winning the Trinity League championship…won the CIF-SS Division 1AA championship with a 54-47 win over Brea Olinda at Anaheim Convention Center Arena…was victorious over Berkeley, 57-40, to capture the CIF-State Division I championship at the Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento… finished with a 33-3 record with ESPNHS rankings of #1 in California and #8 in the nation…Jordan Adams and Nirra Fields, both seniors, were named co-MVPs of their team…Adams and Fields also shared Trinity League MVP honors…Senior Alexas Williamson and Freshman Andee Velasco were named to the Trinity League First Team…Senior Kaija Powell received Trinity League Second Team honors…Fields won the Orange County Register and Los Angeles Times Player of the Year awards…Adams was named to the Orange County Register First Team and the Los Angeles Times All-Area Team…Williamson was honored on the Orange County Register Second Team…Adams and Fields shared the CIF-SS Division 1AA Player of the Year award…Williamson was named to the All CIF-SS Division 1AA Team…Fields won the Cal-Hi Sports State Player of the Year and the Gatorade State Player of the Year awards…Adams and Fields were both selected as McDonalds and WBCA All-Americans.

Soccer (Boys)
Finished fifth in the Trinity League and did not qualify for the CIF-SS playoffs… ended the year with a 9-10-5 overall record…Tommy Padia, a junior, was the team’s MVP…Padia was selected to the Trinity League First Team…Junior Chris St. Germain was named to the Trinity League Second Team.

Soccer (Girls)
Placed third in the Trinity League…advanced to the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs, losing to Aliso Niguel, 3-0…had a final overall record of 11-7-6…Senior Alina Cheatham was chosen as the team’s MVP…Cheatham and Gigi Geil, a junior, were named to the Trinity League First Team…Maddie Bauer, a junior and Devin Barrett and Megan Crosson, both seniors, made the Trinity League Second Team…Cheatham was selected to the Orange County Register Third Team.

Water Polo (Girls)
Went unbeaten to win the Trinity League championship…advanced to the CIF-SS Division 2 championship game, losing to Corona Santiago, 9-8… finished with a 26-5 record for the season…Mackenzie Barr, a junior, was both her team’s MVP and the Trinity League MVP…Barr went on to be selected the CIF-SS Division 2 Player of the Year…Sophomores Sydney Blubaugh and Brianna Daboub and Seniors Claire McKinnon and Alexsee Wilcox were named to the Trinity League First Team…Audrey Light and Courtney Jarvis, both sophomores, were honored on the Trinity League Second Team…Daboub and McKinnon both were selected to the All CIF-SS Division 2 Team as well as the Orange County Register Second Team.

Wrestling
Had a 1-3 record in the Trinity League and did not qualify for the CIF-SS team playoffs…posted a 5-9 record for the year in dual matches…Mark Christine, Kevin De La Torre, Paul Hachigian, and Alex Rivera, all sophomores, as well as Trevor Perez, a freshman, all qualified for the CIF-SS Individual playoffs by finishing in the top 3 of their respective weight classes in the Trinity League finals.
