MD Teachers Professional Development Day on the iPad 2 – April 29, 2011

It is an exciting time to be a Mater Dei educator!  Last week, we handed out 110 white Apple iPad 2s (32 GB/Wi-Fi) to our teaching faculty. We also distributed via e-mail direct download links for applications including: Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iMovie, Garage Band and Good Reader.

Today, our entire teaching faculty underwent a full day of training with certified Apple experts from all over the U.S. Teachers were grouped into training rooms through self-assessment of their own technological abilities and comfort levels. This has been a wonderful opportunity for our teaching faculty to apply real-world classroom experience by learning workflow, apps and response systems directly from the Apple team.

Additionally, it has been a great way for us to “train the trainers.” Throughout today’s Professional Development Day our Tech Committee learned how to access and address technological challenges, needs and issues that may arise when the 1 to 1 program is in full force this fall.

P.S. The photos that accompany this blog entry were taken with my iPad and posted to this site.  Click here to visit our video gallery and see a clip of our teachers being trained with an Apple expert.
