Construction Begins on New On-Campus Golf Practice Facility

Thank you to the generosity of the Donte and Trina Andry Family, as well as the entire Boys and Girls Golf program parental community, construction began today (April 19, 2011) on the new on-campus golf practice facility at Mater Dei High School. Located at the southeast corner of the campus, behind the new outdoor athletic scoreboard presented by the Littlefair Family, this new state-of-the-art golf practice center is part of the ongoing expansion of the Mater Dei campus. Designed by the same golf practice facility architect who created the incredible Stanford University golf practice center, Mater Dei’s new facility will be a “mini-me” version of Stanford’s (ours will be approximately 10,000 square feet when fully developed compared to the 20 ACRE facility on the Farm).

Coach Ollie Martin is very excited about the prospects of his young golfers being able to practice all of their shots right here on the Mater Dei campus, as the computer and video camera technology, as well as the driving cages, chipping areas, sand traps and putting greens, will allow our boys and girls golfers to practice “every shot in the book” under the “watchful eye” of swing analysis technology. In conjunction with Athletic Republic (our speed, conditioning, agility and strength training partners), Coach Martin is looking forward to setting up stations and circuits for our Monarch golfers to train, condition and work on their golf game here at Mater Dei in the off-season leading into the 2011-12 golf seasons.

We sincerely thank our wonderful golf program benefactors for helping make this long discussed dream of an on-campus practice center for our Mater Dei Boys and Girls Golf Teams, become a reality in the Spring of 2011. We are most grateful for your caring and generous support.
