On the Sidelines: Fall Sports Post Season Wrap

Fall Sports Post Season Wrap

Cross Country (Boys)

Finished fifth in the Trinity League and did not make the playoffs.

Cross Country (Girls)

Placed fourth in the Trinity League and did not qualify for the postseason.

Football

Finished in third place in the Trinity League and received the #12 seed in the Pac 5 bracket…hit the the road and beat the #5 seed, Long Beach Poly, 26-10, in the first round…went to Tesoro in the second round and beat the Titans, 17-0…playing host to Mission Viejo in front of a sellout crowd of almost 9,000 at the Santa Ana Bowl, lost in the semifinals, 42-21…Victor Blackwell, a senior, was named to the CIF-SS Pac-5 team and the Orange County Register first team…Joseph Schmidt, a senior, was selected to the CIF-SS Pac-5 team and the Orange County Register second team.

Golf (Girls)

Posted an undefeated 11-0 record during the regular season…won the Trinity League Championship…finished the year ranked #2 by the Orange County Register…took third place in the CIF-SS Eastern Team Divisional Playoffs…Victoria Nguyen, a senior, was named to the Orange County Register first team…Nguyen also advanced to the CIF-SS Individual Finals for the second consecutive year.

Tennis (Girls)

Qualified for the CIF-SS Division 1 Playoffs with a second place finish in the Trinity League…travelled to Brentwood in the first round of the playoffs and lost a tough match, 10-8…Jordyn Kearney qualified for the CIF-SS Individuals.

Volleyball (Girls)

Wrapped up the Trinity League in a three-way tie for first place…beat Chaminade at home in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 1 Playoffs in three games…played host to Los Alamitos in the second round, but lost in four games…Monica Stauber, a senior, was selected the Trinity League Most Valuable Player.

Water Polo (Boys)

Entered the CIF-SS Division 1 Playoffs as the #1 seed…beat Edison at home in the first round, 19-5…went out on the road in the quarterfinals and took care of Harvard-Westlake, 16-11…was victorious over Dos Pueblos in the semifinals, 13-7…captured its third straight CIF-SS championship, and first in Division 1, with a thrilling 11-10 win over El Toro on a last second goal by Liam Gaughan…Bret Bonanni, a junior who has played three years at the varsity level, was named the CIF-SS Division 1 Player of the Year and the Orange County Register Player of the Year…Bonanni scored 156 goals and had 41 assists this past season…Gaughan, a senior, was selected to the CIF-SS Division 1 team…James Walters, a freshman, was named to the CIF-SS Division 1 team and Orange County Register third team…Anthony Daboub, a junior, was selected to the Orange County Register third team…Chris Segesman was honored as the CIF-SS Division 1 Coach of the Year.
